In a recent article published in Physical Review Letters (PRL 118, 117202 (2017)), researchers from the Nanomagnetism group at nanoGUNE reported so-far unknown anomalies near dynamic phase transitions (DPTs). Such anomalies do not exist in corresponding thermodynamic phase transitions (TPTs), and thus, they constitute a distinct difference between DPTs and TPTs, even though their equivalency was the key outcome of more than two decades of research by many groups around the globe.

Lorenzo Fallarino, Pre-doctoral Researcher at the Nanomagnetism Group at CIC nanoGUNE, received his PhD at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) after the defense of his thesis project on Thursday 26th of January 2017. His research work, entitled “Fabrication and characterization of magnetic thin films and multilayers", has been developed under the supervision of Dr. Andreas Berger, nanoGUNE’s Research Director and Nanomagnetism group leader.

Researchers from the Basque institutions CIC nanoGUNE, Ikerbasque and Cidetec, and the German Robert Koch-Institut report the development of hyperspectral infrared nanoimaging. It is based on Fourier transform infrared nanospectroscopy (nano-FTIR) and enables highly sensitive spectroscopic imaging of chemical composition with nanoscale spatial resolution (Amenabar et al., Nat. Commun. 8, 14402 doi: 10.1038/ncomms14402 (2017)).

Nicolò Maccaferri, Pre-doctoral Researcher at the Nanomagnetism Group at CIC nanoGUNE, received his PhD at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) after the defense of his thesis project on 9 December 2016. His research work, entitled “Designer magneto-optics with plasmonic magnetic nanostructures", has been developed under the supervision of Dr. Paolo Vavassori, Nanomagnetism group coleader.

CIC nanoGUNE eta DIPC ikerketa-zentroek nanoKOMIK proiektuaren baitan egindako “Dayanne eta Murillo. Nanozientziaren indarra” komikia aurkeztu dute.

Fan Yang, Pre-doctoral Researcher at the Nanomaterials Group at CIC nanoGUNE, received her PhD at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) after the defense of her thesis project on 10th October 2016. His research work, entitled “Functionalization of nanomaterials by atomic layer deposition", has been developed under the supervision of Dr. Mato Knez, Ikerbasque Research Professor and Group Leader of the Nanomaterials Group.

Materialen Fisika Zentroko (CSIC-UPV/EHU) Daniel Sánchez Portal eta Cambridgeko Unibertsitateko irakasle eta CIC nanoGUNEko Ikerbasque ikertzaile Emilio Artacho, biak Donostia International Physics Center-eko (DIPC) kideak, Journal of Physics sailaren 50 urteko historiako hamabi artikulu garrantzitsuenetako baten egilekideak dira, argitalpenaren editoreen arabera. 2002an argitaratu zuten aukeratutako lana; simulazio atomikoko kode berri eta eraginkor bat aurkezten zuen, bere siglengatik SIESTA deritzona, eta gaur egun luze eta zabal erabiltzen da.
