Emakumeak Zientzian 2023
Make women scientists more visible. Break stereotypes. Encourage scientific vocations among women.
The Emakumeak Zientzian initiative took its first steps in 2017 and year after year has been growing and strengthening. The United Nations General Assembly decided, in 2016, to proclaim February 11 as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science in order to achieve full and equal access and participation in science for women and girls.
In this context, Emakumeak Zientzian (meaning 'Women in Science' in basque language) arises with specific objectives:
To make visible the activity of women in science, to break with the typically male roles attributed to scientific-technical activities, and to encourage the choice of scientific careers among girls and teenagers.
To this end, it promotes, organizes, develops, presents and executes a broad program of activities around February 11. For this, several entities representing the science and technology network of the Basque Country -including nanoGUNE- participate as organizers.
The full program of activities and registrations are available at www.emakumeakzientzian.eus
