Mariana Medina, interviewed on Radio Euskadi about “How to create microbots to help conceive a baby”
In November 2024, Mariana Medina, Ikerbasque researcher and leader of the Nanobiosystems group at CIC nanoGUNE, was interviewed by Eva Caballero on the program La Mecánica del Caracol on Radio Euskadi. During the interview, Medina explained the innovative advances her team is developing in the treatment of infertility and gynecological tumors, with a particular focus on the use of medical microrobots and nanosensors.

Medina, a mechatronics engineer who joined the Basque Nanoscience Research Centre in 2024, detailed one of her most ambitious projects, which involves creating transporters that can facilitate embryo implantation and help sperm reach the ovum. This miniaturized technology could transform fertility treatments, improving the chances of success in insemination and in vitro fertilization procedures.
