  • CIC nanoGUNE launches new spin-off with technology for safer childbirth

    CIC nanoGUNE has launched its seventh spin-off: Optec4Life. The enterprise will be developing a new technology to provide hospital obstetrics teams with a real-time, non-invasive, medical monitoring device to diagnose perinatal asphyxia during childbirth, thus preventing unnecessary cesarean sections and improving perinatal outcomes.

  • 3rd Global Graphene Call: international call to promote innovative graphene-based projects

    Through a joint effort, CIC nanoGUNE, BerriUp, Graphenea, Fomento de San Sebastián and BIC Gipuzkoa are seeking revolutionary ideas that harness the potential of graphene in industrial and technological applications. Entrepreneurs and companies wishing to take part must present their own original projects from 13 September to 13 October 2024. The organizing entities offer a unique set of resources to support the selected projects.

    The Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu Accreditations were awarded yesterday in Madrid.

  • OMN 2024 showcasing the latest advances in optics and nanophotonics

    Donostia is hosting world experts in the field of optics and nanophotonics at the International Conference on Optical MEMS and Nanophotonics - OMN 2024. The event, organized by nanoGUNE, is bringing together around 110 international experts.

  • Double recognition to Niklas Friedrich at the XXXIX Physics Biennial

    Niklas Friedrich, former member of the Quantum Probe Microscopy group at nanoGUNE, receives the RSEF-EPJ+ Award and the GEFES 2023 Award for his experimental PhD thesis entitled Electronic Transport through Suspended Graphene Nanoribbons Using a Scanning Tunneling Microscope.

  • María Barra receives the Nanolito award for her Doctoral Thesis

    The Spanish Nanolithography Network awards the Nanolito prize to Maria Barra for her thesis entitled Micro and Nano Fabrication of Structures for Light-Matter Interaction.

  • Mikel Quintana receives the Extraordinary Doctorate Award 2024

    Mikel Quintana, researcher in the Nanomagnetism group at CIC nanoGUNE, has been awarded with the Extraordinary Doctorate Award 2024 in the area of Sciences of the UPV/EHU for his thesis Phase Transitions in Nanoscale Designed Magnetic Thin Films.

  • Transforming Digital Technologies through the SPEAR ITN project

    SPEAR ITN project (Spin-orbit Materials, Emergent Phenomena and Related Technologies Training), coordinated by CIC nanoGUNE, is a multidisciplinary European network training a new generation of highly skilled researchers able to address future memory technologies and nanoelectronics beyond CMOS. 

  • Quantum hardware to be developed at CIC nanoGUNE

    The Basque nanoscience research center opens a new group for the development of quantum hardware.

    A new tower will be built, which will be housing the laboratories of the new group and also a leading scale-up company in quantum technologies.

    NanoGUNE will be developing in San Sebastian chips for the construction of quantum computers based on semiconductor technology.
