The Nanoscience Cooperative Research Center CIC nanoGUNE (www.nanogune.eu) is thrilled to invite applications for an innovative post-doctoral position in the field of chemical research and proteomics. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in technology and to be part of the early stages of a potential startup.
 

As a post-doctoral researcher, you will be at the forefront of applying a novel semiconductor protein mass detector. This cutting-edge technology allows for the detection of high-mass proteins exceeding the 2-Mega-Dalton range. Your primary objective will be to analyze complex protein solutions and evaluate the detector's mass range, resolution, and speed.
 
Your responsibilities will include leading the application and analysis of the new semiconductor protein mass detector, connecting with the private sector to promote and apply research findings, particularly in pharma and biotech, and contributing interdisciplinary expertise, especially from environmental or food science applications. Experience in business development is also highly valued.

 
This position starts as a fixed-term, one-year post-doctoral role. Demonstrated success and progress, especially in collaboration with the private sector, could lead to a permanent role as the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of a new spin-off company. This offers a unique chance to transition into a leadership role within a burgeoning startup.
 

We are looking for candidates with a PhD in chemistry, ideally with experience in mass spectrometry (MALDI) and strong protein preparation and separation techniques. Proficiency in handling complex protein solutions and mechanical/engineering aspects of parts will be highly valued. Excellent spoken and written English is also required.
