Food monitoring
by the Nanoengineering group
Using spectroscopic approaches in combination with machine learning algorithms helps to identify quality status of food products. We developed a fast and cheap method for the detection of adulterated honey and apply our methods for the detection of microplastics in food. The combination of several spectroscopic methods allows us to generally investigate food quality control, in the sense of toxic ingredients, maturation state, nutritional value, fraud, origin, or content of microplastics.
We are looking for research collaborations, even in large projects, private as well as public investment and collaboration with industrial partners from the food production sector.
Food "structuring"
by the Self-Assembly group
We steer the assembly of proteins, peptides, and other biomolecules by electrospinning to micro- and nanofibers, with diameters down to single molecule sizes.
