CFM Colloquium Series
In this colloquium, I will provide a concise and practical introduction to quantum computing, with a particular focus on the architecture and operation of the IBM quantum processors. The talk is aimed at building intuition around how quantum computations are performed on current noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) devices. I will discuss the fundamental physical principles underlying these devices, the nature of quantum operations, and the limitations inherent to NISQ architectures. The presentation will include one or two illustrative examples to demonstrate how quantum algorithms are implemented in practice. If time allows, I will give a glimpse of my own work on time crystals using NISQ computers.
