Master scholarships

NanoGUNE offers master projects to master students in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Materials Science, and Nanoscience in order to develop their Master Thesis within one of its research groups. The Master Projects offered by the different research groups are listed below. Students interested in any of the projects should directly contact the scientist in charge of each project.

Eligible candidates for the Master Projects must be registered master students at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) or at other European Universities, subject to the formalization of an agreement with the corresponding university. 

2024 call for Master scholarships

The 2024 Master Call has now been launched to provide master students in PhysicsChemistryBiologyMaterials Science, and Nanoscience the opportunity to do their Master Thesis in the areas of Quantum Nanoscience, Nanomaterials and Nanomedicine. 

We offer up to 4 scholarships to master students for the master thesis to be done at nanoGUNE.

The scholarship will be of a total amount of 350 EUR per month for up to 10 months. To guarantee the development of the research project in the best possible way, nanoGUNE will offer rigorous scientific training, a close supervision, regular scientific seminars and colloquia, as well as access to suitable laboratory facilities.

We are looking for highly motivated graduates who are planning to complete their studies with a master degree and are furthermore interested in pursuing a doctoral degree at our institution. NanoGUNE presently has 40 Ph.D. students, who conduct their research in our international environment. (Already completed Ph.D. thesis can be found here).  

 

Eligibility criteria:

  • Graduates with a strong interest to start a scientific career in a nanoscience-related field.
  • Candidates should have a good working knowledge of English.
  • Candidates need to have been pre-registered and accepted at an official master degree at any European University. In all cases, an agreement with the University would need to be signed.
  • This scholarship is not compatible with any other grant or funding awarded for the same purpose.

 

Application and selection process:

  • All our master projects are listed below. Click on each project to view the description and the application form. 
  • Applicants have to fill the application form at the end of the description of each master project and must include their CV (in English), academic record and cover letter (in English).
  • A candidate may apply to more than one master project by filling the application form for each project.
  • It is recommended to get in touch with the scientist in charge of each project in order to obtain more detailed information about it. 
  • Applications will be accepted until 30 June 2024. 
  • The selection process will start right after this deadline and the positions will be awarded on a competitive basis taking into consideration the student's academic record as well as the rest of the information provided.
  • The resolution will be communicated to the selected candidates by 31 July 2024.
