POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER

to work on

OPTICAL EXCITATIONS IN NANOSCALE MATERIALS

The research project aims at determining mechanisms for light scattering and optical excitations in layered materials and molecular nanostructures with nanometer resolution. The interaction between light and matter can be brought to the nanoscale by the use of metallic nanoantennas, whereas atomic resolution is achieved by low-temperature probe microscopy. 

The selected candidate will lead the integration of optical and probe spectroscopies into a combined method to map excitons and their dynamics in well-defined systems.

The candidate should have a PhD in Physics or related fields, and experience in scanning probe microscopy and optical spectroscopy methods.

The project will be performed in the Nanoimaging group of Prof. Nacho Pascual, in collaboration with the Nanooptics group of Prof. Rainer Hillenbrand.

The position is available immediately and for a total length of up to three years. The contract will be financed by grant MDM-2016-0618 of the "María de Maeztu" 2016 call of the Spanish National Research Agency.
